Hochriegl
The name Hochriegl is synonymous with excellent quality and great tradition in sekt. This sekt brand was originally created by the Kattus family from Vienna, who at the time were mainly involved in the import and export of spices and caviar. Around 1900, they sold around 200,000 (!) kg of caviar all over the world. From 1890, the founder’s son also started producing sekt, entirely according to the traditional champagne method. The very close personal and business contacts with the champagne house Veuve Clicquot are undoubtedly the reason for this.
The Hochriegl wines have been owned by Schlumberger, another famous sekt producer from Vienna, since 2009. The basic wines mainly come from the Weinviertel, north of Vienna. The sekt is produced in Vienna.
