Heimann

The German Heimann family has lived and worked in Hungary since 1758. During the communist regime, their estates were confiscated and it was not until 1992 that the family was able to slowly rebuild the company. Three family members hold sway: Zoltán Sr., his wife Ágnes and their eldest son Zoltán Jr. Weingut Heimann is famous for its pioneering work with the old grape variety Kadarka. But Heimann also knows his way around both indigenous varieties such as Kékfrankos and international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah as well as rarities such as Tannat and Sagrantino.

Triumvirate
Today, Zoltán Sr. is responsible for the strategy and supervision of investments and plantings. Agnes is responsible for the winemaking, the harvest and the administration. Together they organize most of the wine tastings. Zoltán Jr. studied at the best European universities for viticulture and oenology: Geisenheim, Montpellier, Bordeaux and Udine and is now gradually taking over more and more tasks and responsibilities from his parents.

Love for wine and Szekszárd
All family members are strongly committed to the wine industry. For example, as acting chairman of the Szekszárd appellation, Sr. is committed to promoting the development of his beloved region. In 2011, he was named International Wine Expert of the Year at the Artvinum Gala in Stuttgart, an award for his efforts for his community and the region. Zoltán Jr. is a member of the Junior Association of Young Winemakers.
