St. Andrea
György Lörincz (pronounced as Yuri leurintsj) is not only an Orthodox priest but also one of the most idiosyncratic winemakers in Hungary. Restoring the reputation of Egri Bikaver is his great passion. He goes his own way in creating new wines and was the first in Eger to work organically. Eger is an important wine region located in the northeast of Hungary at the foot of the Bükk Mountains. It is a region with unprecedented possibilities, where the cultivation of white and red grapes is widespread. The most famous wine from the area is the Egri Bikavér. This is a red wine obtained by blending at least four grape varieties, with a minimum share of 30-50% Kékfrankos. No single grape variety may be part of the blend for less than 5% – or more than 50%. For the terms ‘Superior’ and ‘Grand Superior’, the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are permitted for a maximum of 30%.
Originality, purity and perfection are the key words of György. Both Hungarian and international grape varieties are used. The wines of St. Andrea stand for top quality.
