Ostatu

Bodegas Ostatu is located in the beautiful village of Samaniego in the Rioja Alavesa. The Sáenz de Samaniego family has been active in wine for many generations. Evidence was recently found that the family already owned vineyards in the 16th century.

Tradition
The parents of Gonzalo, Ernesto, Mariasun and Iñigo have not only lovingly cared for the vineyards since the late 1960s, they also made their own wines from their grapes. Until the year 2000. Then the children took over. We have been following this nice young enthusiastic sister and her three brothers for years. They hold tradition in high regard, while making wonderfully pure and fruit-driven, modern wines.

Development
The combination of tradition with current knowledge and technologies ensures that Ostatu produces wines that are perfectly balanced. The wines are better every year and the tastings more enjoyable. After the last tasting we decided: “It has to happen now!”

First
Our fourth acquisition in Rioja makes, in addition to the beautiful fruit-driven matured styles such as Crianza, Reserva and the Cru’s Lore de Ostatu and Gloria de Ostatu, a series of wines that we do not yet have in our assortment in Rioja. Everyone is really enthusiastic about the delicious accessible and not wood-matured line of Rioja Blanco, Rosado and Tinto.
