Awarded with a score of 8.5 by Harold Hamersma: “Bikavér is a traditional blend of kékfrankos, merlot, cabernet and kadarka grapes, therefore partly Hungarian and partly international. If we want to go into detail: 56% kékfrankos, 23% cabernet franc, 17% merlot, 8% kadarka and 6% cabernet sauvignon. The grapes come from the best vineyards of the Iván Valley in the Szekszárd region. On the nose you can recognize the hint of blackberry typical of Merlot, together with a beautiful ripe dark red fruit, a touch of tobacco from Kékfrankos, while the elegance and blackcurrant of Cabernet Sauvignon are found, and finally, the touch of red fruits it is given by cabernet franc. To conclude with a mysterious nuance, which must be the kadarka.”
