Familie Reinisch
The Thermenregion wine-growing region is located just south of Vienna. As the name suggests, this area is home to many hot springs, which were already famous in Roman times, and there are beautiful spas. The area is also extremely suitable for wine growing. The vineyard soil around Tattendorf and Gumpoldskirchen has a high proportion of lime, which is extremely suitable for the grape varieties belonging to the Burgunder (Pinot) family.
Pinot Noir widely respected
The Reinisch family winery (formerly Johanneshof Reinisch) has 40 hectares of vineyards and is a family business where three brothers – Hannes, Christian and Michael – work together. They mainly produce red wines (around 60%), with St. Laurent and Pinot Noir, which have been planted in this region for over 600 years, being the most important grape varieties. Pinot Noir has built up an excellent international reputation; the wines produced from this blue grape variety are considered the best in the country.
Regional white grapes
In white wine, the regional Zierfandler and Rotgipfler grapes are a unique specialty. In addition, international white and blue grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are also planted.
