Bodegas Tradición

Bodegas Tradición is one of the leading sherry producers in Spain. The sherry is made according to the traditional solera system, is given an unprecedentedly long wood aging and is produced in small quantities.

The real thing
The logo of Bodegas Tradición shows a man pouring the wine by hand, this is no lie. The production process is done by hand, without the use of machines. The result of the manual blending of the wines and the long wood aging is a top-quality product with the same, consistent quality every year. No colorants are added to the sherries and there is no filtration or heating. This is ’the real thing’, sherry as sherry should be.

History
Bodegas Tradición was founded in 1998 by Joaquín Rivero. At first glance, this seems like a relatively new winery from Jerez, but the origin of this house is ‘Bodega CZ, J.M. Rivero’. This bodega dates back to 1650 and is known as the oldest sherry bodega in Spain. Bodegas Tradición is therefore the successor to a bodega that still did business with the royal houses of Spain and Portugal. The name Tradición refers to a return to the traditional style of sherry, but also to the continuity of the family business.

Acclaimed by Nicolaas Klei
Nicolaas Klei chose no-nonsense wines for Elsevier’s 65 best wines of 2015. Wines without fuss. Without pretentiousness, without make-up, without pretensions. About the sherries of Bodegas Tradición he says: “Expensive? One small sip stays with you for hours, and except for the fino, they keep well opened for a long time. A glass every day for a month: that’s one euro a day for the most fascinating wines in the world.”
