Lagar de Cervera

Lagar de Cervera was one of the first producers to appreciate the great potential of Rías Baixas. The year of foundation is 1988, coincidentally the same year that the appellation was founded. They were there from the beginning, long before this area got its big name. Yes, you can safely call this producer a visionary.

Perfect conditions
If we were an Albariño grape, we would know. The vineyards of Lagar de Cervera are located in the O Rosal valley; a privileged location where the soil and microclimate are ideal for this grape variety. The valley has the added advantage that the grapes get an extra week of sunlight to ripen, and are thus protected from a possible too wet autumn. In order to serve these ‘spoiled’ grapes even better, Lagar de Cervera thoroughly renovated its cellars in 2013. Here you can now find the most modern techniques, in a space inspired by the traditional architecture of Galicia.

Albariño in balance
Lagar de Cervera only makes ‘single-varietal’ Albariño and knows better than anyone how to find a balance between the ripe, southern styles and the tight, northern styles of Rías Baixas. In short; you taste both the seduction of the south and the finesse of the north. This balance impresses enthusiasts so much that the wine even had a place in the Wine Spectator Top 100 wines of 2004. In 2014, the Albariño received 90 points from José Peñin.
