Trossos del Priorat
The love story between the Catalan Vives family and Priorat really began in 2004. After a delicious lunch in restaurant El Cairat in the cozy Falset, they got talking to the friendly man. His family had a few ‘trossos’ for sale. With the purchase of these vineyards, a long-standing wish of the Vives family came true: a wine estate in the beautiful Priorat.
Famous vineyards
The vineyards in Gratallops are largely located around the famous l‘Ermita vineyards of Alvaro Palacios. The lack of expansion possibilities of this unaffordable vineyard has caused some bad blood with the neighbors.
Young and older vineyards
The total of 22 hectares is planted with Grenache, Carignane, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah and is farmed organically. The vineyards are now ten years old. However, for the wine ‘Lo Món’ (the world), grapes are also purchased from vineyards that are 80 years old.
Digestible wine from Priorat
We know that wines from Priorat are almost always impressive. But do we also know that this does not always make them equally drinkable? Fortunately, the family appointed Toni Coca, a very well-known local oenologist, as technical manager. He was given the task of making an elegant and drinkable wine. Without losing the character of Priorat. How delighted we were when we tasted this for the first time. Exactly what we were looking for: quality, digestibility and an impressive glass.
