No less than 93 points from Parker and a nice 9 for this pearl from Cachazo, assigned by three 'Masters of Wine' who "blindly" selected all the wines for the '2020 Wine Guide' (400 wines chosen from 2,211 samples under €25). 'Bodegas Félix Lorenzo Cachazo is a family-run business that has been producing traditional white wines from the region for generations. Together with six other wine producers, Félix is the founder of the DO Rueda, thanks to which his beloved verdejo has finally achieved recognition. Currently the family business is managed by the children Eduardo and Angela, the latter is the family's winemaker. They manage 25 hectares and purchase grapes from an additional 200 hectares of other farmers with whom they have collaborated for decades. Some of their vineyards are more than 130 years old - some even pre-phylloxera - and may be the oldest in Europe. These old strains give the wine a unique character and reputation. The daughters of King Juan Carlos of Spain even served Cachazo wines at their wedding! Amber colour, tertiary aromas, floral complexity, buttery background, fullness in the mouth with notes of fennel, lime zest and golden apples. Enveloping, complex and persistent.'

Vinification
The grapes are vinified separately in the cellar; subsequently destemmed and pressed softly. The must ferments in steel tanks. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the two grape varieties are blended. Following the traditional winemaking process that this winery's predecessors had adopted, the wine is stored in 16-liter glass demijohns ('damajuanas' or 'Demijohns') for 18 months. During this period, the wine undergoes 'oxidative ageing' which gives it a golden color along with characteristic flavors and aromas.
Wood education
At least 2 years in oak barrels.
Taste impression
A range of flavors such as nuts and dried fruit. Full body with great complexity due to the long maturation in oak barrels. On the palate it is long, dense and peppery.
