Stodden
The Jean Stodden winery is one of the best red winemakers in the Ahr. Alexander Stodden, who took over the winery from his father Gerhard in 2006, knows better than anyone how to translate the unique terroir and microclimate of the Ahr into world-class red wines. His Spätburgunders excel in elegance and finesse. The Recher Herrenberg is his most famous vineyard. It is a steep, south-facing slope where his oldest vines are located. He also has plots in other famous vineyards such as the Dernauer Hardtberg, Ahrweiler Rosenthal and Neuenahrer Sonnenberg.
The philosophy of the company is: Quality management starts in the vineyard! Vineyard, location and weather cannot be influenced. Accordingly, the quality of the wines depends on the winemaker. In collaboration with nature, we do everything we can to achieve maximum quality. In 2020, the domain was praised by the German wine bible Eichelmann with ‘World Class’ and by the German Falstaff all wines were rated above 90 points.
